Reflection about younger students with technology and being on web in classrooms

In class last Friday we discussed the topic of having younger students on the web and having a blog for their class.  There were different opinions on this topic.  For me I believe having the students being on the web and having a blog, like Kidblog, is perfectly alright.  I believe it can be very beneficial to the students and allows discussions questions outside of the classroom.  I agree with the topic of that kids need to get outside more and  not being tied to technology, but that is entirely up to the parents responsibility, not the teachers.

The times are changing and technology is changing and the demand of technology in the classroom is rising.  We as teachers cannot ignore using technology in the classrooms.  Blogs can be very important and it will keep the students interested in the classes they take and it can be fun for the students to actually make a blog.  I know some people fear the idea of having younger students on the internet but really its the parents responsibility to make sure the students are on appropriate websites and are being safe.  That view shouldn't affect the idea of having that learning tool of a blog being used in the classroom.
